I still don’t know what I want to do for the rest of my life. Accounting is alright. It’s not bad. Who you’re working with and the quality of the clients you’re working on, contribute the most to your overall job satisfaction. Surprisingly, the actual number crunching has little to do with it. But do I want to be in public accounting forever? That’s a really long time.
I need one more year of professional experience to receive my CA designation. Once that year is up, I’ll decide if accounting is right for me. In the meantime I’ll be searching for other careers, through contacting people who are doing things I’m passionate about.
If you’re in a similar situation and aren’t sure how to move forward, I want to hear your thoughts. Are you thinking about getting a more specialized designation? Do you want to stay in public accounting forever? Have you already made the move to industry? Let me know. And if you want to write a guest post, please feel free to send me an email (lastyearsfile@gmail.com).
Here we go…
